Weekend Fun

Reed is a boy who LOVES the weekend. He loves Saturday mornings when he can get up, keep his pjs on, and spend the morning playing with his toys.IMG_3177

We didn’t have a ton of things planned for the weekend, so we thought it might be a good time to plan a fun outing for the kids.

We have a movie theater that gets movies after they would typically leave the normal theater and the cost is $3.00. We thought this might be a good place to take Reed for his first movie theater visit.

We told them Saturday morning if they could be good, we would be heading for a surprise that afternoon. Ava tried to guess all morning where we were going.

Here they were before we left: IMG_3178

On the way there, I snapped this pic of Ava. She looks so old here.

When we arrived, we told them we were going to see Monsters U. (It comes out on DVD today and we could’ve easily just waited for that, but sometimes special outings are fun!) We got in and of course, had to get some popcorn, and headed in for the show!

Reed had fun sitting here for oh, about five seconds.IMG_3201

He then switched to my lap, and he was content if we let him ate popcorn. After we told them to stop, he got restless. We probably won’t be taking him back to a movie for a little while, but we did make it through this one without having to go out. Ava had a great time and it was fun to take them to do something we don’t normally do!

Leslie sent them a Halloween package a couple of weeks ago and I put it away until a little closer to Halloween and thought yesterday was a great day to pull it out while Zach was gone golfing. There were lots of little Halloween activities in there. They had fun with it. I’m not sure what Reed is doing with his face here. He’s quite the character!IMG_3214

We ended the weekend with a pot of chili for dinner! Zach asked me over a week ago if I could make chili. We have some kiddos who love it too!IMG_3250

All in all, it was a great weekend, although it was over WAY too fast. I seriously feel like I blink and it goes from Friday evening to Sunday evening. I’m already ready for the next one!!!

Trunk or Treat

We had another busy week this past week. Same song, different verse right?

The highlight of the week (for the kids at least), was Friday night when we had Trunk or Treat at the kids’ school.

Reed was in A MOOD when I got home from work and he was having NO part of wearing his costume. I was disappointed but it was NOT worth the fight. He would have been mad the whole time and I didn’t want to deal with that.

Ava was very excited to go and very excited to dress up! IMG_3117 IMG_3113 IMG_3120

Reed’s costume matches Ava’s so I’m hoping he may still wear it on Halloween!!! (I need to work a little on my clown makeup before Halloween!) IMG_3126

They had a dinner before the actual Trunk or Treating and Reed was a MESS, but he did enjoy his dinner! IMG_3129

This was Reed’s first experience trick or treating and he caught on veeeeeeeeery quickly. He liked it a lot! And, the boy who wouldn’t put on a costume was all about having his hair spray painted blue. Go figure.  IMG_3155

Ava had a blast getting to trick or treat with one of her best friends!IMG_3153

The kids had a great time and I’m grateful for our school who provides wonderful events like this for our family to enjoy!

Our last week

Well, another week passed with only one post. This may be my new norm. I really enjoy our memories being posted here but I’ve somewhat lost my blogging drive. Hopefully it will resurface.

So what have we been up to this last week?

I enjoyed hanging out with my sister for a few hours while we waited on our new niece to be born! IMG_2837

And believe me when I say that Caroline is precious, but I’m going to refrain from posting a whole lot of pictures of her right now until her mommy can get some more up of her.

My kids are fully of energy these days and they rarely want to slow down for their mom to take a photo of them. One morning I got them to stop for a minute and smile with me! IMG_2908

We got to school early one morning and I let them get out of their seats. Ava asked if we could make a funny picture!IMG_2931

This dude is lucky he is so cute because he is SO ornery. I’ll share more on this in a bit! IMG_2988

All week long we’ve been waiting for the NEW Super Adventures Mickey that the Disney Channel was promoting every second they could. (What’s worse is the commercials that have ALREADY started for the new Sofia the First movie that doesn’t come on until MID NOVEMBER! Seriously?!) Anyway, it was cold and rainy Friday evening and we settled in with popcorn to watch the new movie! IMG_2992

Saturday I needed to return a couple things to the mall and I wanted to start looking for some stuff to wear for some upcoming family photos and I decided to take Ava with me. We did our shopping and I told her we could have lunch, too. We decided to go to Chick-fil-a, where we ran into one of her friends from her itty bitty school days, so it was extra fun for her! When we left she said “This has been a FUN day!” IMG_3006

Saturday evening we stopped to have dinner at a local Mexican place. Before I knew it, Reed had hijacked the bowl of salsa as his own. IMG_3013

That evening while we watched our beloved Razorbacks get slaughtered, Ava tried to teach Reed how to do a cartwheel. This was as far as he could get.IMG_3015

When they settled down for the night, Reed went ahead and made himself comfy! ha! IMG_3018

Sunday afternoon, Zach and I were both working on different things and we heard the unmistakable sound of coloring and found that Reed had drawn a masterpiece on the kitchen wall. It will have to be repainted. (Also, ignore the food on the floor. I hadn’t swept yet. Just keepin’ it real.)IMG_3019

Sunday evening, Ava ran off to brush her hair after her shower. Reed ran off after her saying he needed to do his, too. Ava came back out and I asked where Reed was. I went looking for him and glanced in the dark bathroom and didn’t see him. I checked Ava’s room and then Reed’s room and he wasn’t in either. I turned back down the hallway and found him like this. He was turning the water off and on and thought he was pretty cool. Oh, this one. I used to think Ava was hard. He puts her to shame!IMG_3034

So that’s what occupied us this past week. Our upcoming week is BUSY BUSY! I think that’s our theme word for this fall! ;) As crazy as it is, I love that I get to do it with my favorite people!!!

another catch up

Hello, hello!

I really haven’t done so hot at updating this blog. I truly don’t have a lot to update because we haven’t done much. We’ve had another round of sickness hit all of us (dreaded stomach bug), and are hopefully all well now.

The weekend before this past one was our big school carnival fundraiser. It rained and was cold and not a great weather day for it but the kids still had fun while we were there. They got their faces painted and loved it.

This was Reed’s last photo as a 1 year old!

IMG_2613

Reed had a good birthday! We celebrated that morning with before he proceeded to have an epic meltdown on our way into school. I left him screaming in the corner, so that was a fun start to the day. =/ IMG_2617 IMG_2638IMG_2649IMG_2655

They celebrated in his class with cupcakes and he was SO cute when they sang to him. He held his head down like he was embarrassed but he had the BIGGEST grin on his face.

IMG_2831

That night we planned to celebrate with his favorite food, pizza. We ended up doing it at my grandma’s house with an extra set of aunts/uncles/cousins and he enjoyed himself. :) It’s so hard to believe my baby is two! IMG_2709

He loves his new Mickey Mouse “pack pack”. It’s so cheesy but he loves it! IMG_2714

He once again loved being sang to but was a little embarrassed by it!

IMG_2728 IMG_2731IMG_2757

Zach had a marching competition yesterday. After YEARS of him trying to rebuild the program at his school, he FINALLY earned superior ratings in ALL categories. I am SO SO SO proud of him and his tireless work and this group of kids. They were so excited, as they should be!

IMG_2830

Today is a VERY exciting day. I’m actually taking the day off work and heading to NWA to be there when my brother and Leslie welcome sweet baby Caroline! Stephen has always been one of my closest friends, and when he and Leslie started dating, we became fast friends also. I’m so excited to be able to be there to meet my sweet niece after she arrives!

Maybe things will slow down for us and we can get back to regularly scheduled events and posts around here!

Happy 2nd Birthday Reed!

Happy birthday, Reed! Today you are two years old!!!! I can’t believe we’ve had you for two years. It hardly seems like it’s been any time at all since we first laid eyes on you!

IMG_3528

Mommy held you for just a couple of minutes and when the nurses took you, noticed you weren’t doing well. They whisked you away from us and it would be hours before mommy would see you again.

Not knowing what was wrong with you made for some of the scariest hours of my life. Seeing you like this was so hard for me, and it broke my heart not being able to hold you, sweet boy.

IMG_0776

But in true Reed fashion, you were a trooper. You were then, and you are now. This 2nd year of your life has been tough. With what seemed like constant sickness, and then your cyst, infections and surgery, it’s been a difficult year for you. But you’ve taken each day in stride and have handled it so well. You make your mommy so proud!

Here a few of my favorite memories of you from the last year!

IMG_6063IMG_9856IMG_7572 IMG_7640IMG_8674 IMG_8884 IMG_8909IMG_8914 IMG_9150 IMG_9285 IMG_9382 IMG_9549 IMG_9636 IMG_9790IMG_8466IMG_8317IMG_0370 IMG_0511 IMG_0717 IMG_0791 IMG_0824IMG_1797 IMG_0098 IMG_0188 IMG_0238 IMG_0271IMG_0010 IMG_0563 IMG_0881 IMG_1213IMG_1598IMG_1265

We are so thankful you are part of our family, Reed. You make us laugh multiple times a day. You’re also a sweet a boy and you love your mommy, daddy, and A-yuh! I hope you know how much we love you! I pray that this next year is a little easier on you! We’ll be here with you each step of the way, and I cannot wait to see what the next year brings for you, sweet boy!

Love you always buddy,

Mommy
