Celebrating Zach’s birthday!!!

Today is Zach’s birthday!!! For four months, we share the same number, but he is quick to remind me that even though we are the same age, I am still older. I think he relishes the fact that I am older than he is! :)

We’ve had a great weekend celebrating! I love when birthdays are on or around the weekend b/c it feels like we get to celebrate a lot! Last night we hired a baby sitter and went to dinner alone!!! Let me just say – money well spent! ha! We went to a new(ish) Japanese steakhouse in town. We’ve gone once before and it was so-so. I went back for lunch for a work meeting and it was really good, so Zach wanted to try it again. It was awesome last night! The cook was so entertaining and we had a blast! We went and rented a movie and then we did something so incredibly exciting. We – wait for it – went to Wal-Mart! haha! Fun, right? It was nice getting to grocery shop together without rushing b/c we were racing against a time bomb! It was a nice relaxing evening!

I wanted to do something special for Zach so I cooked a big lunch. My parents came over to eat and celebrate with us. We had steaks, grilled corn on the cob, Crash hot potatoes, salad, and rolls. I also made him a cake!! (And yes, I know – I’m no professional – but it was made with love and I still have red food coloring on my hands to prove it!!!)

And just because I don’t want to forget – this weekend at church Ava was a little restless. She’s been a lot better the past few weeks so I was hoping we’d turned a corner. Anyway, it was almost over and I whispered to “It’s almost over. Are you ready to go bye-bye?” And she looked at me and then screamed out “Bye-byyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyye!” Slightly embarrassing, but seriously funny! Love that kid!
