Teach me to number my days And count every moment before it slips away
Taking all the colors before they fade to gray
I don't want to miss even just a second more of this
It happens in a blink
It happens in a flash
It happens in the time it took to look back
I try to hold on tight, but there's no stopping time
What is it I've done with my life
It happens in a blink
When it's all said and done
No one remembers how far we have run
The only thing that matters is how we have loved
I don't want to miss even just a second more of this
It happens in a blink
it happens in a flash
it happens in the time it took to look back
I try to hold on tight but there's no stopping time
What is it I've done with my life
It happens in a blink
Slow down, slow down
Before today becomes our yesterday
Slow down, slow down Before you turn around and it's too late
It happens in a blink
it happens in a flash
it happens in the time it took to look back I try to hold on tight but there's no stopping time
What is it I've done with my life
It happens in a blink

Ava-isms
Ava is almost 2!!!!
I just wanted to take some time to document some of the things Ava is doing and saying at(almost) 2 years old!
Her vocabulary is growing daily. These are some of the words she says and what they mean (if it’s not obvious):
Mommy, Daddy, doggie, nightnight (she calls her blanket that – isn’t that sweet?), Bapa (grandpa), Mal-mar (Wal-mart), tank tu (thank you), please, byebye, yeaaaaaaa, otay, back (razorbacks), keys, shoe, whas dat (more on this later), nack (snack), luh you (love you ♥), tolor (color), potty, its mine, slide, swim, Mouse, stih-her (sticker), hout (out), help.
This is not a comprehensive list but things we hear a lot!
These are some of the things she does right now that are slightly cute/slightly annoying – haha… :) I don’t want to forget them though!
She’s starting to string syllables together. Mostly she says “I slide” or “I pee-pee” (while grabbing her bottom, and which REALLY means she went #2), etc. She has also started saying “it’s mine” if she wants something instead of asking please. She also says that if she sees something in a store she wants or if we take something away from her. Everything is “hers” these days….Tonight at dinner she said her longest sentence – she broke into her plastic lid and when I took it away she said “it’s my water”.
Probably the thing she says most is “Whas dat?”. She asks this ALL the time. What’s funny is that when she sees something she likes or wants (i.e. a playground, a drink) she’ll gasp and say “Whas dat?!” like maybe asking about it surprised means she’ll get it? I don’t know if that’s what goes through her mind but it’s pretty cute.
The other really funny thing she does right now is a game she plays in regards to saying "grandma". She can say it, but she won't. Anyway, we can go through a string of words that she'll repeat back, but she will NOT repeat grandma. She'll either mumble or be silent! The funniest thing though is that if someone tries to coax her to say it in front of my mom, she'll just look at her and giggle. It's like it's become a game to her. Silly little girl!
I’m probably jinxing myself by saying this but she had her really awful behavior stage over the summer and she really has been so good the past several weeks. Maybe it’s because she’s not home all day – I can’t even remember the last time she had to sit in time out. (I started this post last night and I did jinx myself – she was awful tonight!) haha! Oh well – a day in the life with a 2 year old!
Ava, I love seeing your personality come shining through! You are fully of fun and excitement and I can’t wait to see how you grow again this next year!!!!

Weekend recap
This weekend we went to visit Zach’s family. His dad is home before being deployed overseas so we went to visit and to celebrate Ava’s birthday with them early.
Zach’s grandma lives on a lake and Ava is still obsessed with the water so she enjoyed walking down to the water’s edge and throwing rocks and waving to boats as they sped by.
Obeying Mom’s orders to sit but still grabbing her rocks! How can I throw if I’m too far from the water?
Showing her rock to an airplane flying by!
Not happy Mom is interrupting rock throwing for a picture!
PURE JOY!
This afternoon was her birthday party and Ava had a fun time opening her gifts at the birthday party! She got a new tricycle and loves it! She rode it almost all night when we got home. She’s got some work to do to figure it out but I have no doubt she’ll get there!
She decided it was much easier having her Aunt Mallory push her around!
She also loves her new makeup kit! Now she won’t have to dig through Mommy’s drawers in the mornings – she’ll have her own!
Yummy Minnie Mouse birthday cake!!! Not wanting to wait to dig in!
Ava definitely had a fun day! She really knew what was going on and loved opening gifts and having cake! I’m excited to do it again next weekend. I just can’t believe that next Sunday my little girl will be 2!!!!!! It seems so unreal. She’s the light of our lives and is full of spunk and sass!! It’s hard to believe we’ve had 2 years with our precious girl! Big Mickey Mouse birthday party is next weekend and I’m pumped! I can’t wait to see Ava play with all her little friends!! There’ll be lots more Ava celebrating to come this week so stay tuned!!

Calling the Hogs & playing!
Hey all!
So did you have a nice Labor Day weekend?? We sure did. We didn’t really do much and it was SO nice.
We did cheer our Hogs on to victory and this little cutie enjoyed calling the Hogs! She would run off on her own and we’d hear her yelling “ig ooooie”! :) Too cute!
Sunday afternoon we took Ava to play – she loves to slide! She’s getting a slide in a couple weeks for her birthday and I can’t wait to see her face when she sees it!! Anyway, she had a ball running around and burning off energy!
In other news, today was a very rainy day and according to this, we have several more like it in our future. I’m okay with a couple of days of rain, but I’ve already been praying that September 18th is a clear day because that morning we have a birthday bash planned outside for Ava and her pals! So come all you want this week rain, but go away by the next Saturday, puh-lease!!!
Hope you are having a good week – I love short work weeks – it’s nice that tomorrow is already Wednesday! :) Until next time!

Slacker
Yeah, that's me.
So I’d love to say that I’ve been MIA for some exciting reason, but sadly it’s just been because we have been SO busy. And that busyness has not been exciting at all.
Here’s some randomness to hold you over until I have time to write a real post:
- Yesterday was the first day in a week that Ava has not cried when I’ve dropped her off at school. She’s definitely a creature of habit and changing it up is sometimes very difficult for her. (however today did not go so well!)
- It’s now September which means my baby is almost 2 – how in the world can that even be possible?!?!? Look at this big girl! Not much baby left...
- Razorback football starts THIS weekend. Get excited, people! I can’t wait! Woo pig sooie!
- I could not be any more excited about a 3 day weekend. Period. The end. I’m ready!
- I'm beyond ready for cooler fall temps! I can't wait to pull out my hoodies and cozy cold weather clothes!
- Work has kicked my butt this week - it's been incredibly busy. But, I've never been more thankful that I have a place to work even if it does wear me out! Not to mention, Pampered Chef has been very busy lately (which is a GOOD thing), so that adds a little to the exhaustion!
- Did I mention I'm ready for the 3 days weekend? :)
Happy Labor Day Weekend to you all! Be safe, have fun, and GO HOGS!!!
