Jam packed weekend

This past weekend was the annual two night carnival at the kids’ school. It’s the school’s biggest fundraiser and we all help. Zach and I are the ticket collectors and counters – we’ve done it for four years now, and we have it down to a science. We’ve made changes on counting so there’s no more staying up until 4:00 a.m. to count and getting up to finish the next day. Since we have that job, we have to be there both nights, which of course, the kids love.

On Friday night, Ava’s cheer squad performed. This was her first performance and she was beyond excited. She was also nervous and told me she was “nerv-cited”! Ha! I cannot believe how grown up she looks in this uniform. IMG_5549 IMG_5553

She did so great during her dance and I was impressed at how well she knew the choreography! Girlfriend loves to move. After it was over, she told me she was really proud of herself. ;)IMG_5564

Reed enjoyed the games and his favorite part was picking out a prize. He spent several minutes after each game to peruse through the bucket to pick the most perfect prize (most of which are probably already either lost or in the trash).IMG_5555

Ava played some games with her best friend and she came up to show me she won a gold fish. Wooooo….. two years ago we got one from the same carnival and that darn fish lived over a year…. until we got another one last year and put it in the bowl and then they both died. Reed has named this one Bubbles so we’ll see how it fares…IMG_5571

Grant was such a trooper. He just rode around in his carseat attached to the stroller all night. He was such a good baby.IMG_5581

We headed back for more fun on Saturday. Reed decided he wanted to get his face painted and the person who did it was a sweet teenage girl at our church who sometimes babysits for us. He was so serious and so still while she painted.IMG_5586 IMG_5587

I absolutely love this picture of his reaction to seeing what he looked like!!!!!!IMG_5589 IMG_5591

I think the best part was that he really thought that people thought he was Spiderman and not Reed. On our way home, i told him we had to wash it off and he cried because he said people would be able to see was Reed again and not Spiderman. Oh, to live in the land of make believe!IMG_5595

Grant didn’t last quite as long on Saturday night but he was still a happy baby until he was ready to go. Look at how blue his eyes are!!IMG_5603IMG_5607

We ended the night with a train ride. Ava wasn’t too thrilled about having to ride with her brother and this is a completely fake smile from her. Just keeping it real. IMG_5609

Both nights I left to take the boys home and we let Ava stay with Zach to keep playing so she got home late both Friday and Saturday nights. Sunday afternoon, she went to a three hour cheer/dance clinic at Zach’s school.

She said she had a good time, and I think she did, but I also think she was WORN OUT. She came home, ate an early dinner, finished reading a book for school, and then went to lay down. I went to check on her, and found her asleep before 6:00.IMG_5652

It was a fun and busy weekend! We have busy, busy weekends from now through the first weekend of November. We will look forward to a weekend where we have absolutely nothing to do (if the others don’t fill up between now and then!). But we’re making memories and that’s what matters!
