Recovery and Recuperation

We have had a very low key last few days. Reed has needed to just lay low and rest and he’s been able to do just that.

So how is he? He seems to be much, much improved from Thursday. The cyst has shrunk considerably. On Friday, the aftermath from draining the abscess  (and this is seriously the hardest word to spell – i mess it up every time!) was pretty ugly and it still drained for a while. By Sunday, it looked SO much better. It was still bruised BUT the good news is that I think it has cleared up enough that he will not need to have the drain put in, PRAISE JESUS! I’m just so thankful for that.

So where do we go from here? We call today to give them a report and we should be able to schedule a surgery date. We will also find out the exact bacteria that caused the infection and if the medicine is correct for that. Speaking of the medicine, it is AWFUL. It smells (and I can only assume tastes) TERRIBLE. It takes the both of us to get it down him, and he screams, cries and gags his way through it. It’s also made him have yucky diapers and a really awful case of diaper rash that nothing seems to be helping cure. He does feel better, but he’s got a ways to go before he is 100% healthy.

We thought he needed a little treat for being such a trooper this past week!! He loves his new Mickey Mouse book!

His daycare is closed this week so it’s good that he will be at home all week to rest and spend more time recuperating.

We were glad to have this lady back with us on Saturday!

Reed has been doing A LOT of this!

We did go to church Sunday morning and it was either too early for Reed or he just didn’t care!

Last night at dinner, Reed actually ate his meal and asked for “mo”. It was so nice to see him wanting to eat after almost a week of just picking at food!

So that’s how he is. I’m hopeful we can get surgery scheduled and keep Reed well between now and then so he can get this cyst out!

Here’s to a hopefully much quieter week for us!

  1. He looks so sweet and cuddly!

  2. I'm so glad to hear that he is doing better!!
