With the promise of winter weather moving in, we kept watch on the forecasts for several days. We woke up Thursday morning knowing that the winter weather was supposed to start early that day, but didn’t know exactly when. I got up and got in the shower, and when I got out, Zach told me that school had been canceled! I didn’t believe him at first!
So, I got ready and decided to head in to work. Zach and the kids headed out to try and find one more light in case we were left without power, which was highly probably given what was coming. As we all left, there was just rain coming down.
I went home at lunch time, and Ava was desperate for me to stay home. She said “Can’t you just ask your boss if you can stay home?!” haha! And then when I was leaving she said “mom, those roads sure are bad, you shouldn’t leave.” She’s too smart!By
By the time it was time for me to go home from work, things were still okay. It was a little bit of wintry mix but nothing too bad. I got home and saw some kids who were happy to see me! That the kids helped me mix up a pan of brownies!
We woke up Friday morning to icy, snowy weather!!!! Schools were closed again. I got ready for work (sadly, the company that supplies gas to heat homes doesn’t get to close during winter weather!).
I managed to head outside to take a picture with each of the kids before I had to leave. They were happy to see the snow!
I left and it took me about 20 minutes to get to work (double the normal time). It wasn’t terrible – I’ve driven in worse, but it still makes me a nervous wreck b/c other people aren’t always as cautious. I made it with no problems thankfully. I didn’t leave for lunch that day and by the time I went home, the main roads had been cleared some and I was able to drive with no issues.
While I was at work, Zach took the kids out to play! And he was a great husband and took photos for me to see!
I their favorite part of all of it was seeing the big icicles everywhere! They loved them! They wanted to go back out on Saturday and wanted me to go with them, so I went, even though it was COLD!
We spent a lot of time in the house over the weekend. The kids both took a three hour nap on Saturday!!!
We also dressed in our Christmas outfits – only have so much time to wear them!
Saturday night I put my hair up in a pony tail and Reed saw me and said he wanted one. So, I gave him one!!! haha! He was SO proud!
It was kind of nice to be stuck indoors most of the weekend. I got to read, watch cheesy Christmas movies, did a little bit of online Christmas shopping, took a nap, and finally made my own Christmas wreath!
We had a good time, but I hope we don’t have much more of this weather this winter!!!!!
No snow in AZ but cold temps - I miss the snow! btw - The blog post about your brother getting engaged was showing on the sidebar and I clicked on it to read - what an amazing story!! I've seen Kelly do those posts so it is SO awesome to see a happy ending come from it!!
